PCA/PCT - 6A Medical ICU

The Medical ICU (MICU) provides hands-on experience caring for some of the most critically ill patients in the Central Region. Our team of highly skilled nurses works in a fast-paced environment where you’ll gain exposure to complex, multi-system conditions and advanced treatments. This is an excellent unit for building a strong clinical foundation and growing your skills early in your healthcare career.

Patients in the MICU require care for conditions including respiratory, cardiac, renal, metabolic, gastrointestinal, hematologic, endocrine disorders, and stroke overflow.

Qualifications
Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• CNA/CPTC preferred, OR
• Enrollment in a healthcare program through high school, OR
• Current Mercy co-worker

Experience

• No prior experience required

Training (per state guidelines)

• If no prior experience, completion of a 175-hour Mercy-sponsored training program is required
• Must be completed within 90 days of hire

Certifications

BLS required within 1 month of hire

• PCA competencies required within 3 months of hire

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly
• Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
• Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, twisting, and squatting
